About the Role

Cede is a CBN-licensed International Money Transfer Operator (IMTO) and FINTRAC-registered Money Services Business, serving diaspora customers sending remittances across Nigeria, Canada, and the United Kingdom. As we continue to grow our customer base across these corridors, we are looking for a detail-oriented KYC/KYB Onboarding Officer to join our Risk & Compliance team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct KYC and KYB due diligence on individual and business customers onboarding across Nigeria, Canada, and UK corridors, verifying identity documents, addresses, and beneficial ownership structures.
  • Review and action onboarding applications within agreed turnaround times, prioritising by customer risk level.
  • Carry out Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) for high-risk customers and ensure EDD files are complete, documented, and approved within the required timeframe.
  • Screen all customers against PEP, sanctions, and adverse media lists at onboarding and at each periodic review cycle, and escalate confirmed hits to the Compliance Lead promptly.
  • Maintain accurate customer risk ratings and update them in response to trigger events such as changes in customer profile, adverse news, or transaction anomalies.
  • Complete scheduled KYC periodic reviews by customer risk tier and ensure no accounts exceed their review date.
  • Identify and document rejection rationale clearly for all declined applications, ensuring every decision has a clear and defensible risk basis.
  • Ensure all KYC documentation is stored accurately in the approved document management system and is retrievable upon request.
  • Support the identification and escalation of KYC-related audit findings and assist with timely remediation.
  • Respond to regulatory KYC and customer information requests within the required deadlines.
  • Prepare and submit monthly KYC performance reports to the Compliance Lead within the agreed reporting window.
  • Complete all mandatory KYC/AML training within the prescribed window each cycle.

General Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a KYC, onboarding, or compliance role within a financial services, fintech, or money transfer business.
  • Working knowledge of AML/CFT regulations across at least one of Nigeria (CBN/NFIU), Canada (FINTRAC), or the UK (FCA/HMRC).
  • Hands-on experience with PEP and sanctions screening tools and alert management processes.
  • Strong attention to detail as you will be reviewing documents, identifying discrepancies, and making risk-based decisions daily.
  • Ability to manage a queue of cases, prioritise by risk level, and meet agreed turnaround targets consistently.
  • Clear and concise written communication, every decision must be documented with a well-reasoned rationale.
  • Experience with KYC/onboarding platforms or case management tools is an advantage.
  • A relevant qualification in compliance, law, finance, or a related field is an advantage.
