About the Role

Cede Technologies Limited is a CBN-licensed International Money Transfer Operator (IMTO) and FINTRAC-registered Money Services Business, processing remittances across Nigeria, Canada, and the United Kingdom. As transaction volumes grow across our corridors, we are hiring a Fraud & Transaction Monitoring Officer to strengthen our financial crime defences.

This is a dual-function role, you will sit across both transaction monitoring and fraud operation.

Responsibilities

  • Transaction Monitoring: Monitor customer transactions across all corridors (Nigeria, Canada, UK) for suspicious activity in line with AML/CFT obligations and internal financial crime policies.
  • Transaction Monitoring: Review and disposition transaction monitoring alerts in a timely manner, prioritising high-risk alerts appropriately.
  • Transaction Monitoring: Conduct thorough and well-documented investigations on flagged transactions, ensuring each disposition is supported by clear rationale and evidence.
  • Transaction Monitoring: Escalate suspicious transactions to the MLRO/Compliance Lead promptly upon identification, no delays in escalation.
  • Transaction Monitoring: Assist in the periodic review and tuning of transaction monitoring scenarios, identifying opportunities to improve detection effectiveness and reduce false positives.
  • Transaction Monitoring: Identify, document, and escalate new financial crime typologies and red flags to the Compliance Lead for model enhancement.
  • Transaction Monitoring: Prepare and submit monthly transaction monitoring performance reports to the Compliance Lead within the agreed reporting window.
  • Fraud Operations: Detect, investigate, and resolve fraud cases across all products and payment channels, working to minimise fraud losses and protect customers and the business.
  • Fraud Operations: Manage fraud cases end-to-end, from initial detection through investigation, decision, and customer communication, within agreed turnaround targets.
  • Fraud Operations: Handle customer fraud disputes and chargebacks, pursuing recovery of losses where eligible.
  • Fraud Operations: Ensure all fraud case documentation, investigation notes, evidence, and decision rationale is complete, accurate, and audit-ready.
  • Fraud Operations: Report all fraud incidents to the relevant internal and regulatory stakeholders within required timelines.
  • Fraud Operations: Produce monthly fraud trend and typology analysis reports, sharing insights with the Compliance Lead and Risk management to support proactive controls improvement.
  • Fraud Operations: Support periodic testing of fraud risk controls in line with the agreed testing schedule.
  • STR/SAR Filing: Support the preparation and filing of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to the NFIU and other relevant authorities within regulatory deadlines.
  • STR/SAR Filing: Ensure all supporting case documentation for STR/SAR filings is complete, accurate, and maintained for regulatory and audit purposes.

General Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in transaction monitoring, fraud operations, or financial crime within a fintech, bank, or money transfer business.
  • Working knowledge of AML/CFT obligations and STR/SAR filing requirements across at least one of Nigeria (CBN/NFIU), Canada (FINTRAC), or the UK (FCA).
  • Familiarity with transaction monitoring systems, alert management workflows, and fraud investigation processes.
  • Understanding of common fraud typologies in cross-border payments — including APP fraud, account takeover, mule accounts, and fraudulent inflows.
  • Strong investigative mindset — ability to analyse patterns, connect the dots, and make sound, well-reasoned decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent documentation skills — every decision needs a clear, defensible paper trail.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and work to tight deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Experience with goAML or similar regulatory reporting platforms is an advantage.
  • A relevant qualification in compliance, finance, law, or a related field is an advantage.
